L. reuteri Protectis in the treatment of infantile colic
83 breast-fed colicky infants were given either BioGaia Probiotic drops with Lactobacillus reuteri Protectis ATCC 55730 (1 x 108 CFU per day) or the anti-gas pharmaceutical simethicone. After just one week, there was a significant reduction in crying time in the L. reuteri Protectis group. After four weeks, the crying time was reduced by 74 % in the probiotic group but only 26 % in the simethicone group.
