New study on eczema and L. reuteri

Observed effects in a study presented by Nils Gromert, Sweden at ESPGHAN 2009, provide evidence that long-term exposure to Lactobacillus reuteri may be beneficial in the long-term control of eczema.
Fifty children aged 3-47 months with moderate to severe atopic dermatitis were randomised to receive either Lactobacillus reuteri drops or placebo for 12 months. SCORAD, IgE, skin prick test and use of steroids were followed during the study.

Easy to read about the clinical studies

To date 55 clinical studies on more than 4,100 individuals have been conducted with Lactobacillus reuteri, and results are published in 28 articles in scientific journals. Another 13 studies are published as abstracts of presentations at scientific conferences.
