Two new studies with BioGaia Gastrus
BioGaia's new product BioGaia Gastrus has been tested in two independent clinical trials in patients with confirmed Helicobacter pylori infection. In one of the studies, performed in Bari, Italy, BioGaia Gastrus supplementation led to a significant reduction in Helicobacter pylori infection and symtoms. The other study was performed in Mexico. In that study no significant results were shown. 100 patients participated in each of the studies.

Clinical trials on L. reuteri
Up to August 2011 Lactobacillus reuteri has been studied in 81 trials in humans including more than 5,500 subjects. 54 of these studies were randomised, double blind or blind, placebo-controlled and involving 4,183 subjects. Results are published in 49 scientific articles and three doctoral theses. 47 percent of the completed clinical trials have been done in infants (including premature newborns) and children.

BioGaia at the ISPPP in Turkey
BioGaia will participate at the International Symposium of Probiotics and Prebiotics in Pediatrics, ISPPP, in February 2012. The congress will take place in Istanbul, Turkey. BioGaia is Platinum Sponsor at the congress.

New exclusive distribution agreement
BioGaia has signed a new exclusive distribution agreement with Victus. Victus will sell BioGaia ProTectis drops and tablets under the BioGaia brand in Venezuela and Puerto Rico.
The products will be launched during 2012. BioGaia has cooperated with Victus since 2001. Victus has used BioGaia's probiotic culture with Lactobacillus reuteri Protectis in their product Glutapak-R, which has been a success in many countries in Latin America.

Great interest in BioGaia
at the SIBEN congress in Chile
In the end of October, BioGaia participated in the Ibero-American Society of Neonatology, SIBEN, in Santiago de Chile. About 1,800 physicians attended the congress where BioGaia organised a satellite symposium with an audience of almost 300 physicians. During the satellite symposium new data on the benefits of L.reuteri Protectis in NICU preterm babies was presented.
