Can Prodentis be used by patients that suffer from intolerance and/or allergy?

The culture, which is used in the product, is fermented either on a skim milk or a barley based medium. Analytical data reveals milk protein, lactose and gluten in the culture. However, in the finished product neither milk protein nor lactose are detectable, and the gluten level is below EU limit value for Gluten free products according to Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 828/2014 (<20 mg/kg). As allergen food labelling regulation may vary from country to country, local regulation has always to beconsidered when labelling this product.

BioGaia Prodentis drops

Day in and day out there is a battle going on in your mouth. Bad bacteria attack your teeth and gums causing gum disease, bleeding, bad breath and tooth loss disease. The body’s own good bacteria fight the bad ones, but our modern life style makes their job difficult. They need reinforcements. BioGaia Prodentis is a dietary supplement containing Lactobacillus reuteri Prodentis® *, a natural lactobacillus that rebalances the oral microflora resulting in healthier gums and teeth.

BioGaia Prodentis lozenges

BioGaia Prodentis lozenges is a food supplement containing the patented lactic acid bacterium Lactobacillus reuteri Prodentis®/TM (L. reuteri DSM 17938 and L. reuteri ATCC PTA 5289) that helps the good microorganisms restore a natural balance in the oral cavity. Because L. reuteri Protectis naturally colonizes humans it has a strong adaptation to persist and interact with humans.

What is Lactobacillus reuteri Prodentis?

Lactobacillus reuteri Prodentis is a combination of two strains of Lactobacillus reuteri and is used in BioGaia’s oral health products lozenges and drops. It contains the two strains, Lactobacillus reuteri DSM 17938 and Lactobacillus reuteri ATCC PTA 5289.

Is Lactobacillus reuteri growing in the product?

No, the bacteria are in a dormant state and become activated and fully metabolically active when they come in contact with the saliva. This happens quickly, by the time they reach the stomach, they can start to colonize.

Should BioGaia probiotic products be taken with or without food?

The conditions under which Lactobacillus reuteri is taken are not critical. Hypothetically, the elevated pH shortly after the intake of food might have a positive impact on the survival of Lactobacillus reuteri, but it is more important that Lactobacillus reuteri is taken on a regular daily basis and at a time of the day that is suitable for the consumer.
