BioGaia Protectis ORS
Probiotic baby and child care
Probiotic Oral Rehydration Solution The patented lactic acid bacterium L. reuteri Protectis helps the good microorganisms keep a natural balance in the gut. Because L. reuteri Protectis naturally colonizes humans it has a strong adaptation to persist and interact with humans. Suitable for infants and children.
Preparation: Stir 1 sachet into 250 ml water. Boil the water if you are not sure of the water quality or use bottled water. Boiled water should be cooled before adding the BioGaia Protectis ORS as hot water may damage the live bacteria. When the product is mixed it should be consumed within 6 hours when stored in refrigerator (max 4 °C/39 °F) and within 3 hours when stored in room temperature (max 25 °C/77 °F).
Important: Always use the volume of water stated. If the product is not mixed with enough water, the body will receive too much salt, which can be dangerous.
Always contact your child health center or doctor if the child seems abnormally tired, does not want to drink or is not urinating.
Storage: Store in a dry place, not above room temperature (max 25 °C/77 °F). Keep out of reach of children.
Glucose, sodium citrate, potassium chloride, sodium chloride, L. reuteri DSM 17938 and zinc sulphate. One sachet contains a minimum of 1 billion live L. reuteri Protectis.
Contact your child health center for individual advice.

In BioGaia we are constantly working on improving our products. The Easydropper is a new delivery system for probiotic products. It has an improved drop function which facilitates the administration of the product and less environmental impact compared to glass bottles.
The spots are not dangerous and the product can still be used. BioGaia Protectis tablets contains ascorbic acid, which is an antioxidant that contributes to the stability of the tablets. Over time the ascorbic acid oxidizes and the color becomes darker. This darkening is seen as small “spots” on the tablet.
Multi-strain products containing several strains in high doses do not necessarily have a better effect than a single-strain product. Important criteria when choosing a probiotic product are:
• The probiotic bacteria must be defined on strain level
• The probiotic product must have been tested in human clinical studies, with the same dose and with the same bacterial strain(s) as in the commercial product.
Lactobacillus reuteri (L. reuteri) is a probiotic bacteria that has co-evolved with humans since the beginning of time, and because of that it is adapted to its host. L. reuteri is among the first bacterial species to naturally become established in the microbiota of the newborn. BioGaia probiotic products with L. reuteri are among the most scientifically well-documented probiotics in the world with regard to both efficacy and safety. To date 202 clinical studies with BioGaia’s L. reuteri-strains have been performed in more than 17,200 people of all ages. Positive results have been shown for several gastrointestinal disorders and oral health. Results have been published in 180 articles in scientific journals (February 2019).
