INGREDIENTS

  

  • 4-5 organic lemons 
     

  • 1 tbsp grated ginger 
     

  • 1/2 cup of whey 
     

  • 1/3 cup of organic cane sugar 
     

  • still mineral water, to top up 

 
 
YOU’LL NEED
 

  • 3 sterilized glass bottles 
     

  • A sterilized 3 liter jar 

The fermenting process should take four or five days. Once made, the fermented lemonade should be consumed within a week. 
 
 
INSTRUCTIONS
 

  1. Juice the lemons and filter through a sieve. Put the lemon juice, ginger, whey and sugar into a 3-litre sterilized jar and top up with mineral water, leaving one inch free at the top 
     

  1. Shake thoroughly and leave it at room temperature for two days, releasing gas regularly by opening the lid. 
     

  1. After two days, pour the mixture into glass bottles, adding a little of the ½ tbsp sugar to each. Seal and ferment at room temperature for another two-three days (opening every day) until you see bubbles. 
     

  1. Now it’s ready to be put in the fridge to stop any further fermentation. Enjoy the gut healthy lemonade within a week.
